First Ladies Jill Biden and Melania Trump Speak After Attempted Assassination
Presidential spouses ‘in the best position to turn down the political heat,’ says first ladies studies scholar.
First Lady Dr. Jill Biden reportedly spoke with former First Lady Melania Trump over the phone Sunday afternoon after an attempted assassination of her husband, former President Donald Trump.
The conversation was first reported by The Hill and confirmed to the organization by the Office of the First Lady. Although it has not been revealed what was said between the two women, the phone call apparently took place after Mrs. Trump released a lengthy statement Sunday in response to the shooting.
Melania Trump in her statement called for unity and civility among Americans and described the shooter as a “monster” who committed a “heinous” attack.
She compelled the American public to take action by reuniting.
