Jill Biden is the first Italian American first lady. There are nearly 20 million Americans of Italian descent in the United States, according to NIAF Vice Chair National Anita McBride, who added there’s a lot of pride in having an American first lady of Italian descent. “It’s been a long time since we had a president and first lady attend [the gala] together,” McBride said about the event.
