Spring Arrives at the White House for All to See
Here’s how to get tickets for the annual White House Spring Garden Tour.
The Spring Garden Tour, an annual tradition at the White House, is set to continue this Mother’s Day weekend, the White House announced Monday.
Tickets will be available for the 2024 Spring Garden Tour on a first-come first-served basis.
Visitors can tour the Jacqueline Kennedy Garden, Rose Garden, White House Kitchen Garden and South Lawn of the White House. Guests are invited to stroll around the White House grounds and share photos on social media using the hashtag #WHGarden, according to the White House. Tours are scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. EDT on Saturday, May 11 and Sunday, May 12.
The free, timed tickets will be distributed by the National Park Service at a tent outside the White House Visitor Center (1450 Pennsylvania Ave NW) each day beginning at 8:30 a.m. EDT. The Spring Garden Tour South Lawn entry point will be on 15th St NW between E Street NW and Constitution Avenue NW.
The White House grounds began on about 85 acres of land chosen by George Washington, and they were refined and cultivated throughout the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, according to the White House Historical Association. In 1933, the President's Park, and all national capital parks, were placed under the jurisdiction of the National Park Service. Daily and seasonal maintenance of the White House grounds is supported by a dozen or so landscape architects, horticulturalists, and gardeners.
