Melania Trump: ‘The Brutality Must Stop’
The incoming first lady on social media calls for an end to violence after two deadly New Year’s incidents in New Orleans and Las Vegas.
Incoming First Lady Melania Trump on social media Wednesday called for an end to the violence that stunned New Year’s revelers in two incidents in New Orleans and Las Vegas that killed 16 people.
Mrs. Trump called the incidents “deeply disturbing,” saying, “The brutality must stop.”
On Thursday, the FBI said that the U.S. Army veteran who drove a pickup truck into a crowd on Bourbon Street in New Orleans was believed to have acted alone. And in Las Vegas, officials said a highly decorated Army soldier inside a Tesla Cybertruck shot himself in the head before the truck exploded outside of President-elect Donald Trump’s Las Vegas hotel.
“My heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with the families who are experiencing such profound grief and loss,” Mrs. Trump said. “Let us strive for a future where peace prevails.”
