Melania Trump Announces East Wing Chief of Staff
Longtime Trump aide Hayley Harrison to return to the White House.
Melania Trump, incoming first lady, announced Friday that longtime aide Hayley Harrison will be her chief of staff.
Mrs. Trump made the announcement on social media, saying “Mrs. Harrison has maintained an integral role and exceptional leadership on the First Lady’s team over the past seven years. She has a strong understanding of White House operations.”
That time span straddles Mrs. Trump’s time in the White House and after her husband, former President Donald Trump lost the 2020 election against Joe Biden.
“...as Chief of Staff, Mrs. Harrison will oversee and manage the East Wing’s team while strategically liaising with other parts of government,” she went on to say in the statement.
The announcement marks the first official hire of Mrs. Trump’s Office of the First Lady. Earlier this month, First Lady Dr. Jill Biden extended a visit to Mrs. Trump for a traditional visit at the White House as part of the peaceful transition of power to which Mrs. Trump declined.
Just prior to Election Day, Mrs. Trump made an unexpected appearance on FOX where she said she was not anxious about potentially returning to the White House.
“This time is different,” Mrs. Trump said. “I have more experience and knowledge. When you go in you know what to expect. You know what kind of people you need to get. People on your team that have the same vision as me.”
“This time is different,” Mrs. Trump said. “I have more experience and knowledge. When you go in you know what to expect. You know what kind of people you need to get. People on your team that have the same vision as me.”
Mrs. Trump did not elaborate on that vision except to say that “so many new issues will come in 2025.” She went on to say that “children are suffering” and that “we need to help them and educate them.”
