Former First Lady Laura Bush was awarded the 2025 American Park Experience (APEX) award last week for her lifelong dedication to conservation, environmental education and national and Texas state parks.
Established in 2009, the national award was bestowed to the former first lady by National Park Trust, which honors individuals or groups that have made extraordinary efforts to enhance the awareness and appreciation of the nation’s public parks, lands and waters.
The APEX award recognizes Mrs. Bush's advocacy for America’s natural and cultural heritage, while championing programs that inspire future generations to explore and protect treasured public lands, the organization announced in a statement.
