Egg Farmers Unveil Annual Commemorative Egg for Melania Trump
The artistic egg will be presented to the first lady on Monday during the White House Easter Egg Roll event.

The cost and scarcity of eggs have been all the talk of late and yet, today, America’s egg farmers unveiled the 2025 First Lady’s Commemorative Egg that will be presented at the White House Easter Egg Roll on Monday in Washington, D.C.
This year’s First Lady’s Commemorative Egg, the fifth created in tribute to Melania Trump, honors her ongoing commitment to foster children through the Fostering the Future Foundation and continues a nearly 50-year tradition, according to the Chicago-based American Egg Board (AEB). This year’s egg will be the 48th First Lady’s Commemorative Egg.

“It is a true privilege to continue our tradition of honoring our nation’s First Ladies by presenting the 2025 First Lady’s Commemorative Egg to First Lady Melania Trump on behalf of America’s egg farmers at the White House Easter Egg Roll,” said Emily Metz, president and CEO of the American Egg Board in a news release. “Eggs play a central role in our beloved Easter and Passover traditions, and we are proud to celebrate this cherished symbol of the season at the White House and in homes across the country.”
Inspired by Trump’s involvement with Fostering the Future, a “Be Best” initiative, the 2025 First Lady’s Commemorative Egg was created by Misty Gibson, a contemporary egg artist from Rattan, Oklahoma. Gibson’s work combines nature and narrative, capturing the artistic beauty and resilient spirit embodied in the first lady’s cause, the news release said. The commemorative egg features a delicate butterfly carved into a real chicken eggshell, with wings spread wide in a gesture of freedom and growth. The inside of the egg reveals three butterflies resting on a branch, each symbolizing a stage in a foster child’s journey: transition, self-discovery, and the blossoming of confidence and potential, according to the news release.
Encircling the butterfly, a winding ivy vine etched into the egg’s surface reflects foster children’s diverse educational paths, representing the challenges, triumphs, and personal stories shaping their futures. Trump’s work with foster children has carried over from her first term in the White House to, now, her second.
The tradition of the commemorative egg reflects the values, causes, and contributions of each first lady it honors. Over the years, these eggs have highlighted a wide range of causes—from literacy and childhood wellness to anti-bullying campaigns—and have even featured beloved presidential pets, according to the news release.
For nearly 50 years, America’s egg farmers have partnered with the White House and the White House Historical Association to support the White House Easter Egg Roll—America’s national Easter celebration and the White House’s largest annual public event. The White House Easter Egg Roll annually uses about 2,500 dozen real eggs donated by America’s egg farmers on the South Lawn of the White House for hunting, decorating, and the iconic egg roll, itself. Additionally, eggs will be featured in culinary offerings throughout the event, including spinach and cheese quiche and indulgent blueberry cheesecake bars, highlighting the vital role of eggs in Easter celebrations, according to the news release.
“America’s egg farmers are immensely proud to be part of this treasured tradition every year. As a legacy partner of the White House Easter Egg Roll, we are honored that real eggs are a key element in this iconic national celebration,” Metz said in the news release. “We are grateful for the hard work and dedication of our egg farmers, who play a crucial role in making the event possible.”

The White House Easter Egg Roll attracts close to 40,000 attendees each year, and this year, more than 100 dedicated egg farmers from across the country will be present on the South Lawn, volunteering their time to engage with families and share the care and commitment behind egg farming. Guests can also visit the American Egg Board’s interactive Hen-to-Home exhibit to learn about the journey of an egg from the farm to the table.

Last year, the Commemorative Egg for former First Lady Dr. Jill Biden was hand-crafted by master egg artist Carolyn Bickel from Nashville, Tennessee, honoring Biden’s passion for education and inspiring future leaders of all ages. Made from actual chicken eggs, the 2024 First Lady’s Commemorative Egg featured one large egg surrounded by several “pullet” eggs from young hens. The painted design, according to the AEB, depicted a spring afternoon by a cherry tree, where a girl dreams of all she can be when she grows up—an egg farmer, a teacher, president of the United States? New Podcast Episode Reveals Melania and Michelle Have More in Common Than We Think
Most people, perhaps, believe there’s nothing First Ladies Michelle Obama and Melania Trump have in common other than having resided in the White House.
“That’s just not true,” Tammy Vigil, a presidential first ladies scholar and author of Melania and Michelle: First Ladies in a New Era, tells Host Alan Lowe in the latest episode of the podcast American FLOTUS that dropped on Monday.
In the episode “Melania and Michelle: First Ladies in a New Era with Dr. Tammy Vigil,” Lowe explores what sitting First Lady Melania Trump has in common with former First Lady Michelle Obama. Both women, according to Vigil, were “ambitious, eager to build better lives for themselves and their families and they took risks and challenges in order to be able to do that.”
Obama, in her early years, pursued a formal education. She left her home on Chicago’s South side to attend Princeton University in New Jersey. Alternatively, Trump “sought her fortune in fashion” and left home at a young age to build a career as a model.
“The two of them had these formative experiences of having loving families, but leaving them in order to build their own lives and to be ambitious women,” Vigil says.
The similarities spilled over into their future political lives with how both women were depicted during campaign cycles.
“They were both depicted very politically and people’s perceptions of them were, very much, based and rooted in how they felt about their husbands and how they felt about the parties that their husbands represented,” Vigil says.
The common result was that both Trump and Obama faced a lot more criticism than some of the previous first ladies.
The podcast goes on to discuss how Obama and Trump have both been compared to former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy and explores how White House transitions from one first lady to the next unfold. And, Vigil examines the leadership role of Trump and Obama in their chosen initiatives.

Hillary Clinton Urges “Americans of Conscience” to Stand Up to Trump in Deportation Case
April 17, 2025 — Hillary Clinton in a social media post on Thursday urged “Americans of conscience” to stand up against the Trump administration’s deportation of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a citizen of El Salvador who was mistakenly deported to a mega-prison in El Salvador, where the administration has sent hundreds of Salvadoran and Venezuelan men who were previously in the U.S. Abrego Garcia had a protection that allowed him to be in the U.S. and in a court filing, the U.S. Justice Department called his deportation an “administrative error.”
“If they can ship Kilmar Abrego Garcia to a foreign prison–accused of no crime, with no trial–they can do it to anyone,” Clinton said in the post.

Trump Backed a Bill on Nonconsensual Intimate Images—But He Fired Its Enforcers
April 17, 2025 — The bipartisan Take It Down Act, which would create criminal penalties for distributing nonconsensual intimate images and require tech companies to remove such content, has a clear path to victory: It has passed the Senate unanimously twice, cleared the House Energy and Commerce Committee and is being championed by First Lady Melania Trump—and President Donald Trump has vowed to sign it.
The legislation puts the Federal Trade Commission in charge of enforcement, but the independent federal body has recently been weakened. Two Democratic commissioners have been removed by Trump, a move the Supreme Court has clearly ruled he does not have the right to do, and at least a dozen staff members were cut as part of Elon Musk’s purge of probationary federal workers.
