China State Visit Comes to a Close

The Trumps host Chinese President Xi Jinping and Madame Peng Liyuan for tea at the White House and a tour of America’s founding documents before they departed on Friday.

Before bidding farewell to China President Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan Friday morning President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump hosted the couple for tea in the White House Red Room and then accompanied them for a tour of the founding documents of the United States at the National Archives.

The first lady and Madame Peng shared a sofa underneath a Hudson River School painting with Xi and Trump sitting in chairs on either side. Tea and small plates of treats were served on the coffee table between them.
